Paint Your Way was developed during an arcade course at Uppsala University Campus Gotland, and later showcased at Gotland Game Conference in 2018. The goal was to make a game with non-conventional input.

For the input, we rigged paint rollers with multiple sensors, making it possible to map the interactions to the game. We call it the "roller controller". I made a blueprint detailing how it works and which components are needed. The end result ended up quite close to the initial idea.

We had to weld a supporting platform to the base of the roller. It provides attachment of the Wii remote, but more importantly the mouse sensor, with just enough distance to the roller head for optimal tracking.

We made four of them.

I was tasked with making the controllers work. Not an easy task, as there was no support for Wii remotes in Unity. Nevertheless, I got them running, and the game was then enjoyed by a multitude of visitors.
